The Columbia Heights mailing list is devoted to sharing
information about the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC

This is an unmoderated group which encourages discussion of neighborhood
related issues as well as sharing information about community meetings,
      events and resources.
      Personal attacks are not condoned.

Members posting messages inappropriate for this neighborhood list will be placed on moderated status. Inappropriate messages include partisan political posts (national and citywide, ANC's excepted), facebook, and repetitive multiple posts for events (no more than two over a timely period are ok - just not several a day or a week).

Nonmembers may view messages online but are not able to post messages
or access online features such as files, photos, polls, etc

      Your subscription may be changed
(individual emails, daily digest,or no email) by going to:
      http://groups.yahoo.com/group/columbia_heights/join
      and selecting under "email delivery"

Messages are archived online -- almost 29,000 since 1999.
The searchable archive is available to anyone whether a member or not.

The membership list is private -- to prevent spamming.

there are many useful LINKS to neighborhood organizations,
government agencies, local media, etc. There are also links to
flickr pages of photos associated with Columbia Heights.

      There is a section where PHOTOS may be shared;
some historic photos have been uploaded. And POLLS may be
      initiated by members.

There is a FILES section which includes listings of
home repair referrals by your neighbors, some articles*
and studies relating to the neighborhood, and flyers of
events and other items posted by members.

There is a DATABASE feature which has listings of local restaurants
(updated recently) and some that deliver, a separate list of nearby restaurants, as well as some recommended shops.

There is also an under-utilized "Classified" section here.

There is a CALENDAR as well.

Members may contribute in all of these features.

      * There is an extensive archives of media coverage
