do not open attachments
- People should note that the "from" information on these e-mails and
postings with virus-carrying attachments are "spoofed", not real. The
virus collects e-mail addresses from files found in the victim
computers, and uses those for both "to" and "from" information. That
is, don't blame newsDC or wilgorend for these viruses. Their e-mail
addresses were obtained from someone's mail list, and at this point
there's no way to know whose computer was infected, nor whose
computer sent these virus-loaded e-mails.
In general, these days, do not open any attachment until it's been
scanned and cleared by up-to-date virus software, even if the e-mail
source appears to be someone you know and trust. -- Jack
