Marketplace this weekend
- Add fragrant cantaloupes and watermelon to your shopping bags this
weekend -- you might as well bring a cart for the fresh sweet corn, so sweet
you can eat it uncooked , and the tasty tomatoes, and ripe peaches. There
will be cheese and yogurt from Lancaster County,Pa., and a cooking
demonstration with samples and a raffle at 11 AM.
Not to mention the baked goods, jams, and pies from D & S Farm, fresh
flowers and chemical free produce from Comus Ridge.
Coming the following week -- Capital City Public Charter School will have a
community block party on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain
date Sunday, August 10), at the Columbia Heights Community Marketplace,
southwest corner of 14th and Irving Streets, NW, next to the Metro. FREE
activities for kids, moon bounce, music and entertainment, food vendors.
And August 16 - another Children's Fair, with pony rides, games, and food.
