Discover Washington’s Neighborhoods: Take a Guided Walking Tour

We invite you to take a walk and experience the diverse history and culture of two of Washington’s most characteristic neighborhoods.  Join our heritage trails historians on your own or in a group and enrich your soul with engaging stories of the past.  Why not discover a different Washington?

Before Harlem, There Was U Street

Take a walk to the days when U Street was Washington’s “Black Broadway.”  Experience where Duke Ellington was inspired and where musical greats such as Cab Calloway and Dizzy Gillespie played in local clubs until dawn.

Begin your tour inside the Thurgood Marshall Center, a grand Renaissance building that once housed the first full-service African American YMCA, and enter the Lincoln Theatre, a 1922 movie palace restored to its gilded glory.

Join us on 1st and 3rd Saturdays through November at 10 am beginning April 5th.

A project of the DC Heritage Tourism Coalition and Manna Community Development Corporation.
