Group Description

This e-mail group has been established to provide a means of direct communication among Columbia’s international students.

Often students are eager to be in contact with others from their country or region of the world, but privacy regulations prohibit university offices from giving out information about students. Or perhaps you’re looking for a roommate, a tennis partner, others with whom to play or watch soccer, someone with whom to share a taxi to the airport, or maybe you have an extra ticket to a concert. The Columbia International Cyber Community is a place at which members can post messages about social and cultural events both on-campus and beyond, and share information about NYC that may be of interest to others, such as where to buy certain hard to find food items. It is NOT a venue in which to seek information regarding immigration regulations—-the International Students and Scholars Office is your best source for that, nor is any commercial advertising permitted.

You must be a current or incoming student or scholar to join. When you request to join, identify yourself by your Columbia UNI or program to which you have been admitted.

If you join the group, be attentive to the choice of message delivery. If you choose the first option, you will get individual e-mail messages of every posting; most would prefer either the daily compilation of many e-mails in one message, or the option to read messages on the web site.

Also, note that if you hit "reply" to a posted message, it will go to everyone in the group. If you want to reply privately, copy and paste the sender's address and open a new email message.

We hope you enjoy your new community!
