New Documentary Bringing Four-Part Harmony to the 2009 Boulder International Film Festival
Hello fellow A Cappella Fanatics,
As you may have heard, filmmakers Aengus James and Colin Miller have created an incredible look into the heated competitive lifestyle of barbershoppers like me; a movie entitled American Harmony. The documentary film about barbershop singing is wonderful for the whole family!
The film will be shown at the Boulder International Film Festival Feb. 12-15, and focuses on four prominent Society quartets including the popular OC Times, 2008 International Quartet Champion, over a span of years, on stage and at home, in their personal quests for international recognition as they experience the thrill of victory, and the agony of not quite making it. American Harmony received an enthusiastic reception from film distributors and other non-Society audiences. Aengus James will even appear in person at the BIFF screening!
To give you a feel for the movie, James says, "The film is a mixture of obsession, singing, zany comedy, and nail-biting competition. This is the story of several dreamers who journey from their 'ordinary' lives to the world stage in hopes of winning the gold."
The movie has been nominated by the Independent Documentary Association for an Alan Ett Award, for "Best Musical Documentary of 2008," and it is ALL about barbershop! James and Miller have teamed up with a distributor to get the film broad exposure throughout North America.
We hope you can make the screening! If you have any questions or concerns, please visit www.americanharmonythemovie.com or contact me directly.
