      Hey, a cappellists and CVJS-affiliated groups:
       
      Here is announcement of the next COMA meeting Sunday evening. Remember that CVJS holds membership in this organization and you are welcome to attend by stating your CVJS affiliation when you claim a nametag. I won't be able to attend this meeting, but it incorporates some interesting presentations, along with the events upcoming that any vocal group equipped to perform and wanting gigs should give a high priority. I've highlighted some of this below in red. Please give them serious consideration.

      NEXT GENERAL MEETING: Sunday, January 27, 2008, 6:00 p.m. at The Irish Snug Underground – Party Room; 1201 East Colfax, Denver, CO (between Lafayette & Marion on the north side of Colfax). Lots of free parking around (no charge for parking meters on Sundays). All ages. Let’s work on getting everyone out again. Program on some of the various conventions, workshops, and seminars available to musicians and businesses, and what they offer that is so valuable to your musical career. Guest speakers will be Marcy Baruch (on motivating yourself and/or your band) (www.marcybaruch.com), Neil Zimmerman of Pairadeux (on TAXI) (www.pairadeux.com), and Gary Lennox - Dog House Studios (on the NAMM Convention) (www.doghousemusic.com) . Mark it on your calendar now!

      NEW COMA LOGO CONTEST
      We had some interesting and terrific designs entered in the “New COMA Logo” contest. Because they all were so good, we’re definitely going to have some trouble deciding which one to use... and may even use several of them in different ways. More will be sent out in the COMA Newsletter.
       
      COLORADO PARKS AND RECREATION ASSOCIATION NETWORKING EVENT
      The CPRA will be holding its annual networking and showcase event on Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Adams County Fairgrounds. COMA will have a booth, and is looking for bands who might want to participate. The showcases are already booked, but you will have the opportunity to pass out promo packs and to talk to the organizers of some of the many festivals and fairs put on in Colorado every summer. There will be a small fee depending on the number of bands/artists who join us. If you are interested, contact Barb Dye at president@...
       
      RADIO WORKSHOP
      Carmen Allgood, of the Colorado Wave radio shows, will be holding a workshop on "How to Get Your Music Radio Airplay" on Saturday, February 23rd at the COMA office, 1490 Lafayette Street, Denver (conference room). Cost of the Workshop is $85 which includes COMA membership. Space is limited. Learn where, how, and what to do in order to get your songs played on radio stations around the world. Send your check for $85 and made payable to: Colorado Music Association, 1490 Lafayette Street, Suite 104-B, Denver, Colorado 80218 by Saturday, February 16th to be included in the workshop.

      DENVER OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS NETWORKING EVENT
      The DOCA event will be held on Saturday, March 8th at the Denver City & County Office at 201 West Colfax. Mark this on your calendars as many artists will have a booth there. Great networking opportunity with various other artistic groups in Denver and the surrounding region.
       
      SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST MUSIC & FILM CONFERENCE
      The SXSW Conference begins in Austin on March 7th and ends on March 16th. Early registration deadline is Friday, January 11th by midnight. Go to www.sxsw.com for more information.
       
      REDGORILLA MUSIC FEST - Now Accepting Entries for 2008
      Spin: RedGorilla Music Fest is held in Austin, Texas, on March 12-15, 2008. Last year, RedGorilla was an overwhelming success and made a name for itself as the cool, rebel showcase that caters to its artists and promotes up-and-coming independent music in all genres to help independent artists further their careers.       WARPED TOUR
      COMA has plans to participate in the Warped Tour again this summer (July). More will be announced on that later. If you would like to work the COMA booth, please let us know. Lots of fun and a great way to meet “Music Supporters”. E-mail president@... if you are interested.
       
      MONOLITH FESTIVAL
      Tentatively in September at Red Rocks. Go to www.monolithfestival.com for more information and to sign up for their mailing list.
