Did you sing in college? Did you enjoy it? Are you frustrated that
there is little opportunity for you to sing the music you love now
that you?ve moved on in your professional life?

The Contemporary A Cappella Society (casa.org) feels your pain, and
they are doing something about it.

Introducing the Contemporary A Cappella League: a nation-wide network
of post-college a cappella groups modeled on collegiate groups. High
quality, semi-pro, adapted to the lifestyle of the non-music
professional, committed to great a cappella music ? these groups are
      going to rock.

Full details on the league can be found at:

      http://www.casa.org/content/view/831/173/

Most importantly: there are groups forming NOW in Colorado.

Tim Jones of Vocality Music will be directing the group in the North,
covering Boulder, Longmont, Greeley and Ft. Collins. Stephen Stanford
will be directing the Denver and South group. The two groups will be
distinct and unique, related only in the desire to get good singers
      singing once again.

The North group will hold the first round of auditions September 15th
in Boulder, 11am ? 2 pm in Macky Auditorium on CU Campus ?
appointments recommended, walk-ins welcome. Second round of auditions
will be at the Colorado A Cappella Vocal Conference Oct 5-7. Rolling
auditions will be arranged on a case-by-case basis after that. First
gigs are scheduled for late October and early November.
Auditioners should prepare 4 pieces of contrasting style that showcase
different vocal abilities. Please provide a resume, headshot, and any
pertinent recordings you have. Be prepared to sight read, improvise,
and sing with other people. For full details contact Tim at
      tim@... or (720) 365-3080.

Group structure: can evolve with group consensus, but the basic idea is:
      12-20 singers
      1 weekly rehearsal
      1-3 monthly gigs
Multiple singers per part, so if a singer needs to miss an occasional
rehearsal or gig, the parts are still covered.
Modeled after collegiate a cappella ? probably covers, arranging done
in-house, members responsible for learning their own music
Higher quality and faster pace than college group ? this should be the
next step, not a step back.

Information on Stephen Stanford?s group auditions is forthcoming.
