Al Hajny has found an interesting document which gives an idea of the size of
AT&T's microwave network in its glory days. It's a letter from the FCC to
AT&T, dated Nov. 8, 1972, giving a blanket authorization for improvements and
output-power increases to the company's TD-2 (4 GHz) microwave radios. The
letter notes that AT&T requested the changes for approximately 37,000 radios
      at 2,405 stations.
