New UK bunkers book
- For those of you interested in the UK WW2 and Cold War bunker and underground factory scene, yet another excellent, lavishly illustrated book has been published and is highly recommended. Includes many present-day underground photos of the Spring Quarry complex, which until 2004 served as the UK National Central Government Emergency War Headquarters, the tunnel systems under the Austin Rover works at Longbridge, and the vast magazines built originally to store ammunition and bombs supplied from the US under Lend Lease.
Also covers very well the underground bomb store at Fauld in Staffordshire which blew up during the war and may still be the world's greatest-ever non-nuclear explosion (unless one of you tells me that the conventional explosive surface explosions carried out in the US to simulate the blast effects of nuclear weapons were larger).
