Subject: Rpt on recent peace
rallies+latest DC bus info
Hi PINKS and friends of Pinks,
Monday Melrose Surge for Peace ended 20 minutes early due to rain,
however, in 40 minutes I counted 59 HONKS FOR PEACE and saw only 2 thumbs
down! No, it wasn't the same car driving round and round the only stop
light in town! From 5-6 on Mondays has a steady stream of traffic.
Eight folks were sign waving this Monday.
Tuesday sign-waving at 13th & U saw a lot of student foot
traffic as well as a lot of car traffic. I handed out about 100 CodePINK
bookmarks; I would characterize the response from students as mildly
disinterested, preoccupied, shy. There were approx. a dozen
sign-wavers there; mostly VFP; three women, so thanks thanks to Karen,
Beth for SHOWING UP!! I only lasted from 4-5:45 due to a leg
injury. I left some of the new CodePINK bookmarks at the Book Lovers
Café, too. I have about 150 bookmarks left in this batch.
The VFP bus to DC leaves Friday from the UU Church on NW 34th
Street, returns Sunday before noon. There's a few seats left and if
finances are the only thing holding you back from going on the bus to DC for
the Saturday, Sep 15, protest...contact David right away and talk to
