Subject: [codepinkgainesville] Action this FRIDAY, May 9 Stearns Gvl Office, 4 pm GO SOLAR GO WIND NO TO COAL NO TO NUKES!
Hi Pinks and Friends of Pinks,This Friday please SHOW UP at Cliff Stearns Gainesville Office (Florida Farm Bureau, SW 34th St. just south of Williston rd.) at 4 PM to say YES TO SOLAR, YES TO WIND, NO TO COAL, NO TO NUKES!Karen, kjepple@gru. net our Gainesville MoveOn coordinator, has organized this action Friday at 4 pm as part of MoveOn's support of Obama's clean energy jobs bill. (see below). Our local voice in support of solar and wind, in support of clean energy and saying NO to coal, NO to nukes is an important message to send to our Rep. Cliff Stearns. We need to let Stearns know we have our eyes on him...Below is the info from MoveOn. Please call Stearns office and let your voice be heard; and please show up on Friday at 4 pm. If you need a ride, call me, email me. I have a small rental car now since my van crashed but I'm sure we can find you a ride if you need one. Please SHOW UP. I'll be there Friday at 4 pm and would LOVE TO SEE YOU there.Your pink pal for peace,Jacque352-468-2101
Dear MoveOn member,
Rep. Stearns is about to vote on President Obama's plan for clean energy jobs. But conservatives want to gut the bill's commitment to solar and wind power. Can you urge Rep. Stearns to support the clean energy jobs bill?
Representative Cliff Stearns
In the next two weeks, your representative, Cliff Stearns, will cast a key vote on the clean energy jobs bill. The bill could jump start the economy with millions of new jobs.
But conservatives in both parties are on the verge of weakening the bill's strong standards for solar and wind power. And they want to let oil and coal companies keep polluting at no cost.
They think nobody's watching. A last minute surge of phone calls from Rep. Stearns's constituents may turn this around. Can you ask him to support and strengthen the clean energy jobs bill?
Representative Cliff Stearns
Here are some points you might want to make when you speak to his staff:
- Please support and strengthen the clean energy jobs bill.
- We need strong standards for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
- Polluters should pay their fair share to build a clean energy economy, so we need a 100% auction system.1
- And please oppose any new coal plants.
Then, please report your call by clicking here:
Conservative opponents are hiding behind bogus charges of higher utility bills. In reality, clean energy means much lower utility bills down the road. And millions of high-paying jobs right now.2
Can you call Rep. Stearns today?Representative Cliff Stearns
