You've heard the old adage, "April showers bring May flowers." Will you join us this month to shower Congress with our voices, rain on the bankers' parade, and water your activist heart with vibrant actions and PINK quilting bees? Then, we invite you to create a garden of peace with us outside the White House in May at our Mother's Day vigil or blossom peace in solidarity from your city. This Thursday, April 2: Conf Call Briefings for Congressional Education on Afghanistan
Join CODEPINK's campaigns coordinator Dana Balicki and military family member and CP staffer Janet Weil on a conference call briefing on Afghanistan on Thursday, April 2, 5 PST / 6 EDT. Then join the United for Peace and Justice call on Afghanistan with Tom Hayden at 6 PST / 9 EST. The calls are being organized the week before the congressional recess of April 6 -17 to better inform your visits with your representative and Senators. Brainstorm effective ways to link the economy and domestic needs; discuss lively pink organizing tips for congressional district office visits, street actions, and more. May 5: Flickr Training: How To Upload and Manage Photos training with Paris and Mother's Day call with Nancy -- framing online media tools as a preface to Mother's Day weekend, skill building
May 9-10 Mother's Day 24-hour Vigil in DC! Join us in DC or organize a vigil or sleep-over party in your city. You can also attend or host a Mother's Day reclaiming event in your area. Look for local picnics, parades, vigils, and other women's events happening on Mother's Day weekend. Plan a pink pajama party in solidarity with our 24-hour vigil (we have great lists of movies and pink treat ideas to give you). Host a candlelight vigil for the mothers living under occupation around the world. Search for an event near you organized by Mothers Acting Up. For creative action ideas, and flyers and signup sheets to use at your action, email Rae at locals@....
