Here an update on the Procession with all the floats and puppets coming to Gainesville next weekend. The march is from UF to the Downtown Plaza from 1-2 PM. Please show up at UF by 13th St. at University Av. a couple of hours earlier to get the puppets and floats lined up ready for the parade. We need YOU to participate! This event is HAPPENING DEFINITELY!! See the new Iguana for details of times places for workshops associated with the Procession for the Future.
The poster is available below. Please print out a copy and also ask your friends to join you at this event. Your group can table at the Bo Diddley Plaza.
Great news: The MC for the Downtown Plaza event from 2-4 is Anthony, the local president of IraqVetsAgainstWar. Mica, another IVAW, will be speaking. NKWanda Jah will be speaking. Someone from SDS will speak. Someone from Equality is Gainesville's Business will speak and encourage people to walk across the street and Vote NO on the Amendment 1.
Mind Rise, a progressive reggae/antiwar group will perform. CodePINK is serving icy PINK lemonade. Come and help with the lemonade table!! Come and join us. SHOW UP!!
Vote NO on Amendment 1 folks are invited to walk at the front of the parade with their Vote NO signs--this was discussed and agreed on in a conference call last night -- The Amendment 1 Vote NO will be in front of and beside the Constitution, the first float in the parade. Please spread the word that we need the NO on Amendment 1 folks to come to the parade/procession and walk in the front, leading the parade, as that is their best shot for front page photo and TV news.
This event is happening and I encourage you to participate. Copies of the poster and a small quarter page flyer are available at Xerographics, 13th St. at NW 10th Av. HELP distribute flyers!

Who on this list has experience getting permits for marches? We've had a glitch in our Gainesville process. We can't pay $1,900. Call (206-356-9980) or email me your advice. Know that this parade and event will happen, permit or not.
The Gainesville Procession for the Future is being held on 6th the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq and people around the country will be marching to say no to that occupation and the trading of the a so called "bad war" for a so called "good war." In Gainesville, we are doing better than just saying no to occupations, we are also saying yes to a vision of the country without a militarized foreign policy and celebrating the beauty of an economy focused on peace and building the true security of a decent society.
The Procession for the Future is gorgeous and irresistible FREE SPEECH and it is our right to make that compelling political statement to our government and fellow citizens.
Jerry Rose and I will be working in the next couple days to be sure that the Procession for the Future takes to the streets with the joyous spirit appropriate for a free and hopeful people.
Please spread the word about the workshops leading up to the Procession and the Procession itself. People can view the poster online at:http://backbonecampaign.org/page.cfm?id=145
Meet us at the Plaza of the America's on the UofF campus on Saturday March 21 at 11 am and we will march and Joyfully!

I also won't make the phone call but just wanted to say, please bring a full color poster by for the front window of the CMC!
Everything looks great!
I just saw the new issue of the Iguana, hot off the presses, and they gave y'all almost a full half of the back cover with a B&W reproduction of the poster, so hopefully that generates a bunch more interest and participation.
As for CMC, we can put the Procession events in our weekly email update and on our website.
Let us know if we can help out in any other way.

I am not going to be able to check in for the phone call, but I did get a file for the poster to the Xerographic Copy Center on NW 13th St. They have it filed under "Backbone Campaign". I had them print 20 11X17 color posters and 100 quarter page BW fliers on yellow paper (that's 25 pages cut 2x). I will be stopping by the store tomorrow morning to pay for the posters and fliers. If anyone would like to pick up the mini-fliers to distribute around campus and town, please let me know and I can probably leave them at Xerographix for you to pick up. If you have an idea for a place to put up a color poster, I can leave some of those for you too. If you need more color posters, they can print up more for you at $0.90 each. Just ask for the Backbone Campaign posters.
