I've been robbed of a chance to protest. And they can have it too. I'm turning the other cheek.
Florida voters, given a chance to vote in a fair election, came out in droves and turned the state blue for Obama. (I don't really want to talk about Amendment 2, except to ask if Obama would've voted for it.) The worst voting problems reported were about broken optical scanners, which still left paper ballots to be counted, thanks to the law requiring paper ballots.
So, unless you want to party on the Plaza with other victors, you are off the hook for today's voter assembly.
But don't think that you are off the hook entirely. Voting is only the first step. Now we need to help our newly elected representatives to remember they represent US and that they need to act like it. Get in touch with me if you would like to stay in the loop with the Green Party in Alachua County and beyond.
