National Park Service town hall
- I just learned about this town hall forum that the National Park Service is holding tomorrow.
The National Park Service, National Capital Region (NCR) will hold a public Town Hall meeting to provide an opportunity for greater Washington area residents to interact with and ask questions of NCR officials who manage four National Parks contained either entirely or in part in the District of Columbia.
Date/time: Saturday, June 23, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: THEARC, 1901 Mississippi Ave., S.E., Washington, D.C. 20020
The meeting will start with a 30-minute Open House, with Superintendents from five National Parks--the National Mall and Memorial Parks, Rock Creek Park, National Capital Parks-East, President's Park and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, along with other Regional Management staff. The five Superintendents will then make a presentation about each of their parks, focusing on summer recreation and related summer events. The remainder of the meeting will be an open forum format, with the Superintendents and NCR management staff answering questions submitted in writing or verbally at microphones.
Banners, posters along with copies of informational materials regarding special events, July 4th preparations, summer concert series information at Carter Barron Amphitheatre, Fort Dupont, the Sylvan Theatre on the Washington Monument grounds, the concert series on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, and military concerts, along with information on a variety of recreational and volunteer opportunities in these parks will be available.
This meeting follows a meeting held last October in the same style and format that included D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton. Similar, future Town Hall meetings are being planned for this fall, winter and in spring of 201#
