      website at http://www.mccabe.com/metrics.php The definition you seek is
      probably in the NIST paper linked from the top of this page (it was written
      by Tom McCabe).

      While Schach and Offutt claim there is no widely acccepted metric (see
      http://opensource.ucc.ie/icse2002/SchachOffutt.pdf) but they were still
      looking at the old, barely usable, measure: lines of code.
