Re: [classicrv] Re: Testing ONAN BGE 4k
- My Onan would not run...
We took it to Camping World, they had it for 4.5 hours, and never got it going.
We took it to an Auto Mechanic in Lyndonville, who had never worked on a generator. He had it running in 15 minutes... Said it has bad gas in it, which was old... Though he had no experience with generators, he has had a lot of experiences with vehicles that have sat all winter, etc in VT.
He took the Plugs out. He also pulled the wire connector off the Electric Fuel Pump, so it would not flood it, as he kept cranking it.
Cranked it over, for quite a time, seemed like ten minutes, probably no more than five. Put the plugs back in, and hit the starter. It started hard at first, but was firing, then running rough, then it began to run smoothly. He ran it for about 15 minutes, then we drained the oil.... Put in New Plugs, wires, air filter, oil filter, and gas filter. It has been running well ever since...

Make sure you don't release the starter button...... ...
hold it down until the engine is up to RPM...if you release it too
soon, the engine will die. Sounds like that's what you're
