Gen. Thomas C. Hindman
- Did Hindman have any good qualities..
In "Civil War Letters of Joshua K Callaway"
It Says General Arther M. Manigault belived Hindman to be " a cheming
maneuvering, political general, with whom it was dangerous to come in
contact" " Morally, he stood deservedly low in the opinions of most of the
officers of the Army.. the cunningest, most slippery intriuer that I have
ever met with. " Manigault also charged that the divison sliped from first-
rate in point of numbers, drill, efficiency, and discipline to third- rate
under Hindmans Administration.
