One area of controversy about Sherman regards the battle at Shiloh.
What are your views as to his preparations and subsequent defense?
Earlier, a contributor to this e-group offered evidence that Prentiss'
action at the "Hornet's Nest" was vastly overrated. I could easily
agree that what happened was historically exaggerated, but not to the
extent stated. Surprisingly to me, this marked reversal of the
conventional wisdom has not evoked any response. Have you heard of
this new theory and do you hold any opinion concerning it?
