[civilwarwest] Re: Books on Beauregard
- Mike Meno,
I just finished reading "P.G.T. Beauregard, Napoleon in Gray" by T. Harry Williams, Lousiana State University Press. I think it was an excellently written biography on Beauregard, unbiased and factual, and gave me a lot of information on a very complex southern general. It covers his whole life, and gives you a good understanding of the man, what made him tick. I had often wondered why a commander who did so well at Charleston and Petersburg always seemed to be relegated to the back-water areas of the war. I think this book will enlighten anyone on this somewhat obscure personage.
