This weekend in Claremont, Iowa. A 100th. year GAR Re-Union. Held in the north-eastern Iowa town of Claremont. It was the home of Governor Larebee; Victorian house called Montauk.

On the grounds of Montauk is the 3 story home; statues of Union generals and Lincoln with son Tad.

In 1903 there was held at Claremont an all Iowa GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) re-union. Now it is 2003 and I am participating in the re-dedications of statues, soldier headstones, re-enactment battle. The Sons of Union Veterans will also be there.

In attendence that day was the only Iowa National Speaker of the House. Also a amputee of the foot.

Best regards to all, Steven C. Russell CC Huntley Camp #114 SUVCW
