Subject: Christian Music: teen pop - my favorite music

Hey - let's just remember that teen pop is no big new thing that has just hit
anybody... teen bands and artists have been around as long as there has been
music. I just love how teen pop is one of the most widely loved forms of
music, yet it recieves the most criticism. The bottom line is: who cares what
reviewers think? Reviewers trashed Britney Spears' new CD, but me and 1.7
million others just happen to have a pop fixation and bought it anyways. I
like pop music, I happen to think Britney, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Christina
Aguilera, Mandy Moore, etc are producing great mass appeal pop songs. Nichole
Nordeman even admits in the new CCM about how much she loved Backstreet Boys
"Millennium" CD because it was FUN. I am all about pop music for that fact.
It's rarely depressing, and when I'm in the mood for it, it's great.

I think Plus One's CD is amazing, comparable with any mainstream act right
now. Relient K's music cracks me up - one of the best punk-pop CDs in
forever. I listen to mainstream and Christian music and Rachael's CD is one
of the best CDs, period, I have heard in a while. Rachael Lampa is another
whose talent is amazing at a young age. If we have such amazing talent among
Christian youth, why not let them use it? People just tend to be overtly
critical of the teen market. Music buyers will continue to purchase whatever
they please, ignoring critics gripes and moans of whom they think we should
listen to. For pete's sake, what else should America's teens listen to? I
don't know who they deem should be more suitable to represent the music of
our generation than the young people themselves. The principle should apply
      in Christian music as well...

      Daniel

r this week 3 of the Rhythm boys (Rick, Bob and Drew, www.rhythmboys.com)

      Eterne: Never be the Same

Perhaps best described as a global expression of worship, this project
features artists from Europe, Australia, South Africa and the United States.
Always forward looking, ForeFront adds to their firm rock foundation with
songs by Audio Adrenaline and Delirious? mixed with dance driven tunes by
RAZE and the crowd-pleasing sounds of Rebecca St. James. Ambient in nature
with a definite Deep Forest feel, the project introduces new ForeFront artist
The Benjamin Gate, along with Eli, and various other noted guests including
Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin and Adore.

Listen to 'I Will Never Be The Same' the debut track from 'Eterne' from new
ForeFront artist The Benjamin Gate. Listen Here:

      Gary Chapman Gets Married

Singer Gary Chapman, the former husband of Amy Grant, is due to remarry
tomorrow. The 42-year-old musician will exchange vows with Jennifer Pittman,
an animal trainer he met while on location for his now-ended TV variety show
on The Nashville Network, reports "USA Today." Chapman and Grant, who have
three children, divorced last year. She remarried in March, to country singer
Vince Gill. "My divorce from Amy will always be a bittersweet scenario, but
we are cordial to one another, and we are all learning to make the best of
the choices we made," Chapman said. Simon, an English mastiff, will act as
ring bearer at the ceremony. "We've been practicing all week," Chapman told
"USA Today." "We're attaching the rings to his collar, and if there's enough
meat at the altar, the wedding will go on."

      THE NoRMALS: Coming to Life

Every once in a blue moon an album comes out of nowhere, transcending by-rote
pop mentalities, communicating truth without bowing to predictable
"Godspeak," and offering songs that may never get much radio airplay yet
become the subject of countless conversations among music lovers who digest
records the way one might peel an onion, layer by layer by layer. Coming to
Life, The Normals' sophomore effort, is that kind of an album-haunting,
mysterious, artful, and uplifting. It might be the best combination to date
of smart, biblically influenced lyrics and delicious, seductive
accompaniment. If you love good music that stays with your gray matter for
more reasons than catchy hooks, Coming to Life is your ticket to
satisfaction. There's a new standard in Christian music, folks, and its name
      is The Normals - CCM

Rhythm and Friends Day Fest is Canceled

We're sorry to announce that the Rhythm & Friends [indoor] Day Fest is
canceled. We know that many of you were making plans to be at this great
event so again the guys send their biggest apologies. Due to conflict of
dates with their location, Rhythm is deciding to hold the festival possibly
sometime later. Please keep this festival under prayer as we pursue God's
direction. We do want to thank everyone who volunteered to help and all the
bands who gave us their all to be a part of this event, Thank you.
