- That makes the victory even more applicable to Asheville because self administrating Asheville is even freer to increase abortion coverage than those localMessage 1 of 1 , Mar 26 10:30 AMView SourceThat makes the victory even more applicable to Asheville because self administrating Asheville is even freer to increase abortion coverage than those local employers that are on a state plan. Besides, there is nothing in the NARAL statement to indicate that Wake County, the subject of the NARAL newsletter, is on any "state plan" either. This is obviously a municipal issue within municipal powers and responsibilities giving local politicians no excuse to shirk it anymore.-Alanhttp://www.heraldsun.com/view/full_story/6386824/article-The-abortion-fight-gets-local?instance=editorialhttp://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lincolntribune.com%2Fmodules%2Fnews%2Farticle.php%3Fstoryid%3D16313&h=8f8dcb1be9e12a8805e842b4f4efdb04On Fri, 26 Mar 2010 05:20:40 -0700 (PDT) Gordon Smith <gordonsmithasheville@...> writes:City administers its own health plan - is not a part of the state plan.Gordon Smith

Thank you for your support. Your diligent efforts to protect the reproductive rights of Wake County women have paid off, as the County Board of Commissioners voted in a four to three party-line split to reinstate abortion coverage for Wake County employees. This decision went into effect last Friday, March 19.
Women should not be denied coverage for reproductive-health services – a basic part of women’s health care – by politicians imposing their personal beliefs on private medical decisions.
We thank Commissioners Lindy Brown, Stan Norwalk, Betty Lou Ward, and Harold Webb for supporting this decision. Choice is victorious today!
