        Sorry for the delayed response. This is done by design. However, there is
        a use the same custom settings for both:
        1) create a subclass of Template that has the attr
        _CHEETAH_compilerSettings defined as you need

        2) for interactive use, just swap that subclass in for Template

        3) for use with the command line tool, specify the
        --templateAPIClass
