Dagestan Suspect Escapes
ROSTOV-ON-DON (The Associated Press, Oct.03, 2005) -- A suspected
militant has wounded a police officer and escaped arrest in Dagestan,
and unidentified gunmen have ambushed a group of court marshals in
Chechnya, officials said Tuesday.
Police tracked down Bulat Abdullayev, suspected of involvement in
attacks against law enforcement officers, in Khasavyurt late Monday.
When police tried to arrest him, Abdullayev fired back, wounding a
senior police officer, and escaped, said Abdul Musayev, a spokesman
for Dagestan's Interior Ministry said.
In North Ossetia, unidentified gunmen on Monday fired at a group of
court marshals from Chechnya and wounded one of them, police said
