Major terror attack in Astrakhan region prevented
MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - Russian special services recently
prevented a major terrorist attack at a gas distribution facility in
the Astrakhan region, which is of great strategic significance, the
Federal Security Service (FSB) told Interfax on Thursday.
The operation to prevent the act of sabotage was conducted on
November 14, it said.
"During the detention operation, the person who was to perpetrate the
terror attack, Adam Sultanovich Magomadov, put up armed resistance
and was killed, and his accomplice, Adam Salmanovich Magomadov,
received a slight wound. A criminal case has been opened against the
latter, he has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been
opened," the FSB said.
No other details on the case have been reported yet.
