      NEXT MEETING

      Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, 9 November; the topic of the program will be documenting your research and the possibilities for joining a lineage group

      DIRECTORS

      The Directors voted to buy a book or books as a memorial to Frances and Jim Wroton as suggested by their daughter Jane. Also discussed was the possibility of joining the Georgia Historical Society in Savannah as an associate group. This would make their personnel available to present programs for us.

      MEETING SUMMARY

      At the meeting on Sunday, 14 September, we heard Sabina Murray discuss old handwriting, a very interesting presentation.

      Election and consideration of Bylaws was postponed until spring of 2009.

      Volunteers are need to help share the tasks and to serve as officers and committee chairpersons.

      The field trip to the Huxford Library was postponed.

      Treasurer Barbara Baethke announced that dues are now payable, $10 for an individual and $15 for a couple. Please mail a check to her at 119 Bay Berry circle, SSI, made out to CGGS. Thanks!!!

      RESEARCH ASSISTANCE

      Research assistance will resume on Saturday, 20 September, 9:30 to 12:00 noon, at the Brunswick Library's Special Collections room. Susan and Charles Bagwell will be available on that date to assist anyone who might like some help.

        The next CGGS meeting will be on Sunday, May 16th, at 2:00 at the Airport Fire Station meeting room on SSI. this is a change of dates due to Mother's Day. The program will be given by Lisa Pingel Rozier entitled "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words, Preserving the Past." She will demonstrate the use of special software to work with old photographs. Bring a couple of your old photos to discuss, if you like

        In addition to new workers, the Society needs to answer questions about our audience (beginners, experienced, in-between), kind and content of programs, activities in addition to meetings, and when and where to meet.

        Your Society needs to attract additional officers, committee chairpersons, and helpers. Please consider candidates to fill the vacancies in the offices of President, Vice President, and Secretary. The new President will appoint or retain the Committee Chairpersons.

        Please be involved in the process of providing direction for your Coastal Georgia Genealogical Society.
