raising the retirement age, and no other cuts in benefits."
As you all know, the
Co-Chairs of the National Fiscal Commission have proposed deep cuts to Social
Security – increasing the retirement age to 69, cutting benefits for
middle-class workers and reducing annual Cost of Living Adjustments.
CARA presented over
75,000 signatures to Congressman Becerra and Speaker Pelosi on November
23rd urging them to share our NO CUTS message with the Fiscal
Commission and with Congress. Thank
you to everyone who participated in the press events in L.A. and San

Now we need to call
all of our Congressmembers and Senators to make sure they hear from us
Working with our
friends at Social Security Works and the national Alliance for Retired
Americans, we are taking part in a call-in day on November 30, the day before
the Commission is scheduled to issue their recommendations. The goal
is to flood the Capitol switchboard with our save Social Security message.
(Note: it is possible that the commission will not issue any recommendations,
but we are preparing for the worst).
