Group Description

We are the Central Oklahoma Dutch Oven Society and are a Group of people dedicated to the preservation of methods of cooking in Cast Iron Dutch Oven Pots and the use of Cast Iron Cookware.

The Group is open to NEW MEMBERS who would like to learn to cook in Dutch Ovens or some call it "Camp Cooking" such as was done on the Cattle Trails of the late 1800s right off the ground from the back of a Chuck Wagon. Dutch Oven and Cast Iron Cooking has been traced back to Martha Washington who in her last will and Testiment willed her Dutch Ovens and cast iron to her children noted in her will as furniture. I believe it can be traced back further but that is a long time ago!

We are a Family Site and ask all who would post and or become members to keep the subject matters to those related to dutch oven cooking or family projects related to cooking in the Black Iron. ClEAN JOKES IF POSTED ONLY.

We meet once a month (on the 4th Saturday of each month) to cook and fellowship amoung our fellow friends and share recipes Ideas and just plain ole fun. Our Venues vary and we try to cook in various places to keep a new feel for cooking in The Black Pots.

Thank You and YOU are most welcome to join us and please do if you have a desire to cook, have fun and get to know many fine people who share a common passion for this wonderful style of cooking. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
