I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy three years ago,
and I guess this came as a surprise. I thought that I had arthritis, that my narcolepsy was
responsible for the tiredness, muscle aches, drained feeling, dry mouth, and my short
term memory loss...
You know how when you get a diagnosis, you start to think about the past, and how
suddenly everything makes sense? Like it was obvious from the beginning that something
was wrong with you and now that there is a term for it, you understand you weren't crazy?
Well, I've been doing that a lot lately. I do it all the time with the narc, and I guess I can
say that my narc symptoms started two years before my diagnosis. But the fibromyalgia
hits so many things, it seems like I've had it forever. I guess in some way I'm relieved.
Now I know how to change my lifestyle, again for the umpteenth time. BUT I'm confused
and pissed off. I mean, what do I have? Really?
I've been reading a ton of information, medical journals, personal stories, etc. And so far I
haven't found one that says that narcolepsy is one of the common sleep disorders
associated with fibromyalgia. DOES ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS? I feel like I'm going insane.
Like every time I find some way to process my disorder, I find out something else that
makes me question it.
Sorry for the long email, but I knew all of you would understand. I have a pretty strong
group of friends and family to support me with the narc, but they are having trouble
understanding the fibromyalgia. It'd be nice to actually have a disorder that isn't complex,
but I know I shouldn't complain.
Anyway, please email me k1torres@...
if you can add any thing.
