The habitat that the Great Gray Owl is using is a mixed Oak, Madrone
and Pine woodland. There is actually very little open grasslands
available, which might explain why the bird has been spotted along the
road perched on the road markers. Based on today's experience, I would
suggest using your car as a blind. If you leave your car, move slowly
and peek over the road edge. Probably your best bet to get extended
views of the owl is to park near one of the locations where the owl has
been spotted and wait for it fly to a perch near the road.
