Several birders were treated to a great display of warblers this morning at Putah Creek between Pedrick and Hopkins, totaling 9 species including a chat. Best was a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, heard only by Michael Perrone and myself. It gave the hollow rapid wood-knocking call twice, but was not seen. It was just upstream of the large pool with the lawn chairs, about 1/2 down the stream.

Here are my estimated #'s from eBird of migrants:

      Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1
      Black-chinned Hummingbird 3
      Rufous Hummingbird 1
      Western Wood-Pewee 1
      Willow Flycatcher 8
      Pacific-slope Flycatcher 5
      Western Kingbird 3
      Warbling Vireo 8
      Violet-green Swallow 3
      House Wren 5
      Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 2
      Cedar Waxwing 15
      Orange-crowned Warbler 10
      Nashville Warbler 1
      MacGillivray's Warbler 3
      Yellow Warbler 25
      Black-throated Gray Warbler 5
      Townsend's Warbler 3
      Hermit Warbler 5
      Wilson's Warbler 20
Yellow-breasted Chat 1 (by the lawn chair pool)
      Chipping Sparrow 3
White-crowned Sparrow 1 (the continuing adult, in both counties)
      Western Tanager 15
      Black-headed Grosbeak 2
      Lazuli Bunting 15
      Hooded Oriole 1

      good birding!
