Colonial District Boy Scout Unit Leaders:
I have received positive responses back from 4 units that want to stand up an OA election team this year. These are Units that have always been loyal supporters over the past years. The Order is very appreciative of what you have done to help in the past volunteering to help in the upcoming elections. This year we are not only looking to our loyal supporters we are also looking for something new – new faces, new unit numbers, new arrowman to help and assist in the elections, other chapter actvities and the Chapter Leadership.
The Colonial Chapter of the OA will be holding Election Team Training on December 07,2013. It is important for all election teams to attend the Training. It is a good refresher for those that have attended in the past. I will also be distributing the Election Team materials at this session.
Unit Leaders, if your unit has not yet served and/or volunteered for past elections or for the 2014 Elections we still need your help. Let me know if you can have a Team available and at the Training. Training will not be any more than 90 minutes, scouts honor.

Hello Colonial District Scouters:
It will soon be that time again.
What time you ask?
Order of the Arrow Election Time
The Colonial Chapter of the Order of the Arrow Lodge needs OA members to step up and volunteer. We need Election Teams to conduct this year’s OA Elections.
The Chapter would love to see each unit stand up an Election Team. Just think if that happens, each Team would only need to conduct one election. Over the past years we have been lucky to have 4 or 5 election teams, out of 25 units for the entire District. This has meant that for the Troops that have provided OA Election Teams, the Team Members have had to maintain an exhausting schedule, doing 4, 5 or 6 different Troop elections over a 3 month period. These elections are in addition to Family, Troop, School, Community and Church duties that these Scouts also have to attend to. In the past these guys have rocked and got the job done, but their job would have been a little easier if other Troops had shown their “Cheerful Service” and stood up an election team too.
What is an OA Election Team? A Troop’s OA Election Team should consist of 3 Trained Scouts and an Adult, all members of the Order.
What is the Election Team’s Responsibilities:
1. To take the OA Election Team Training Class
2. To work as a Team to conduct the Troop OA Elections assigned to their Team
3. To fill out the Election Result Forms and to submit them to the OA Chapter Chief and Adult Elections Advisor.
Why have an Election Team in your Unit:
1. To develop a deeper understanding of what the OA is and does.
2. To provide Cheerful Service back to the Order
3. To provide your youth with meaningful Leadership roles and responsibilities
Remember the more Teams that we have stepping forward, the fewer elections each team will have to conduct.
So please step forward and support your OA Chapter. Please acknowledge your willingness to have an Election Team in your Unit by responding to this email.
