      POSITION AT INSTITUTO FAMILIAR DE LA RAZA

      Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to work in the Indigena Health & Wellness Collaborative (IHWC) program.

      Responsibilities of the Behavioral Health Specialist include to assess and provide targeted early intervention and risk reduction counseling to members of the Mexican and Central American Indigenous communities in San Francisco; incorporate health education and risk reduction elements in the delivery of cultural activities and traditional healing ceremonies; support the supervision and mentoring of Mayan Health Promoters; assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the program; develop and support the implementation of effective community outreach strategies and targeted health education messages, and develop and implement appropriate resources for referrals. Qualifications include: At least 3 years community health educa! tion and outreach experience with an emphasis working with indigenous communities and immigrant; bilingual & bicultural Spanish/English; Bachelors degree in Health Education or related field or equivalent; demonstrated ability to engage youth and families in therapeutic interventions; demonstrated experience facilitating community groups/meetings; knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the indigenous community; Proficiency in Word, Excel, e-mail. Knowledge of Maya Yucateco, Tzeltal or Chol language and culture preferred. Salary: $38,000-$42,000 DOE. Send cover letter and resume to aperez@... or fax it to 415-647-0740.
