RE: [ccd-newastro] Fork Mounts ...Stink?
- You can sometimes find someone who would like to pick up a used fork mount.
You could offer it for sale on Astromart. I don't know a price for one, but
if you figure that the scope is worth about $500 used, you can subtract that
from the value of the kit to get the value of the mount.

Well,...not really, and I guess a Losmandy G11 would a been sweet,
but the fork mount which came standard with our Celestar 8 DX
is not a bad piece of kit, and depending on ones available cash
flow and experience, may be just the ticket. I have S L O W L Y
acquired the entire Celestron/SBIG marriage and find the DX mount to be
fairly stable and quite easy to work with. Nothing fancy,
but a fair match for SBIG's little Pixcel Camera.
Though their is nothing like $500.00 worth glass secured to $2000.00
worth of mount for a trouble free start to good images. However,
For those who dream of an "Upgrade"
....any suggestions what to do with the old mount?
