      Folks -

I wanted to update you on the Des Moines Catholic Workers jail
solidarity situation here in Polk County, Iowa.

Jessica Reznicek and Eddie Bloomer were both released Thursday morning
after spending 15 days in Polk County Jail after they were arrested
during a nonviolent civil disobedience action targeting the World Food
Prize and the corporate control of our food supply.

Frank Cordaro was sentenced to 30 days and has almost two weeks to go.
He has called and written his thanks for commissary support and says
he is getting along just fine. Frank's an old pro at this, and your
support makes doing the time even easier.

*However, "Downtown" Julie Lynn Brown was given 30 days in jail
yesterday after she refused to pay her fines in solidarity with the poor
(who cannot afford to pay fines) and in opposition to the criminal
injustice system (which overwhelmingly locks up poor people of color for
nonviolent victimless crimes). *This is Julie's first experience in jail
and she could use your words of support as well as financial
contributions while she toughs out the next month behind bars in the big
