My dear friend in Christ,
“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain”
I’m back : )
Drove twelve hours on Monday and then 14 hours on Tuesday; TOTALLY wiped out on Wednesday. I saw parts of America I never saw before.
Dads funereal was awesome. Between 350 and 400 friends and family showed up and the viewing had to be extended by about an hour. Mom’s doing OK; THEY had prepared for this moment. THANKS for your thoughts and prayers!
My Marian Catechist Conference too was AWESOME! Got to renew my acquaintance with [last time Bishop Raymond Burke of La Crosse Wisconsin]; BUT NOW His Eminence: Raymond Cardinal Leo Burke; Perfect [head of] the Romans Curia Apostolic Signatura [the Church’s High Court ..like our Supreme Court].. Had my picture taken with Him and he signed with a very personal message to me; his new book: Devine Love made Flesh”.
Today’s readings seemed particularly timely, significant and critically important. I’m going to forward a Catholic Church add later today or tomorrow. PLEASE WATHCH IT.
Matt.22 Verses 1 to 14
And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come.
The meaning here is that “Salvation is offered to All” That God Gravely-Obligates Himself to OFFER “sufficient grace to every human soul” that we can IF WE CHOOSE; Know that God does exist and then freely make the choice to either “know Him or to deny Him.” THOSE are the extent of our choices
Again he sent other servants, saying, `Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.' But they [MANY but not ALL] made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,
“Knowing Christ” and actually following HIM requires from ALL of us: Diligence; Effort; Commitment; Sacrifice; Suffering; Prayer and Grace. WE MUST expect to do as Jesus Himself has Personally demonstrated FOR US and done so that WE MIGHT attain salvation. One not only “ought not” BUT CANNOT expect to have to ’be a follower of Christ” in an absolute sense; and NOT HAVE TOO suffer along with Christ as well as FOR Him; and further no one CAN reasonably, logically or Morally hold that such a mandate is not a foundational condition for our own salvation.
“Then he said to his servants, `The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy.”
Here Christ speaks precisely FIRST to the “Jewish Community” that had and was in process of denying Him. BUT He also means to include all “fallen away Catholics”; ALL Christians of other faiths; and those who give “lip-service” but demand the RIGHT to practice there “faith”; especially Catholism as a “WORDLY- Cafeteria-religion.” A Spiritual and Moral Impossibility! No where in the ENTIRE Bible can one find God granting, permitting or even tolerating such PROUDFUL-personal-faith practice. ONLY what He TAUGHT, Commands, and Permits is acceptable to Him.
Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.'
And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.
Here God speaks of forgiveness [as a conditional-POSSIBILITY]; God is Willing BUT we must not only cooperate; we MUST seek forgiveness [Conditionally] ONLY as God Himself Ordains, Commands and Permits [John 20:19-13; Mt 16-19 and Mt 18:18]. “MANY but not ALL” indicates that while ALL have the opportunity; NOT ALL accept the call; the invitation.
"But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, `Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. [GREATLY ANGERED] Then the king said to the attendants, `Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.' For many are called, but few are chosen."
The “wedding garment” here is a “conditional-offering”. WHILE OFFERED TO EVERYONE IT IS ONLY acceptable AS HE, GOD CHOOSES; COMMANDS AND TEACHES. This “garment” first of all represents “Christian Baptism”; the wedding itself represents the catholic church and ALL that She teaches; guided and protected by Christ Himself [the King], and Christ wishes to make clear that He Alone will decide what is acceptable behavior [faith practice] for the gift and honor on this invitation.
I’m no longer surprised at God’s desire to be actively involved in our lives; so having read my morning meditation prior to Mass, I was only pleased to discover the close correlation between it and the daily readings and today’s homily. Here is what I read, and its taken from Archbishop Fulton Sheens “LIFE OF CHRIST.” [shortened and edited for length]
It begins with a quote from Luke 2:31-35 “Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples: A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And his father and mother were wondering at those things which were spoken concerning him. And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.
“Men would no longer be the same once they had heard His name and learned His life. They would be compelled to accept Him [on HIS terms] or reject Him. About Him there would be no such thing as compromise: only [total] acceptance or rejection, resurrection or death.” CONT. “If he was a Man of Sorrows, she would be the Mother of Sorrows. An Unsuffering Madonna to the suffering Christ would be a loveless Madonna. Since Christ loved mankind so much that He wanted to Die to expiate its guilt, then He would also will that His mother should be wrapped in the swaddling bands of his own grief.
CONT. “The nearer Christ comes to a heart, the more it becomes conscience of its guilt. It will either ask for Mercy and find Peace, or else it will turn against Him because it is not yet ready to give up its sinfulness. CONT. Simeon was practically calling Him the “Devine Disturber” who would provoke the heart to good or evil. Once confronted with Him, they must subscribe to light or darkness. Before EVERYONE ELSE [my emphasis] everyone can choose to be broadminded; BUT His Presence reveals there hearts to be either fertile ground or hard rock. He cannot come [fully] to hearts without clarifying them and dividing them; once in His Presence, a heart discovers both his own thoughts about goodness and its own thoughts about God.
This could never be so if he where just a humanitarian teacher. Simeon knew this well, and he told Our Lords mother that her son must suffer because His life would be opposed to the complacent maximums by which most men govern there lives. [many men freely and pride-fully] He would act one soul in one way, and on another in another way, AS THE SUN SHINES ON WAX AND SOFFENS IT, AND SUN SHINES ONMUD AND HARDENS IT. [again my emphasis] There is no difference in the sun, only the objects on which it shines. As the Light of the World, He would be a joy to the good and lovers of the light [meaning the singular truths as taught by God; fully- obedient, as no one can be only “partially good” in this sense]; but He would be a probing searchlight to those who [freely choose; even in ignorance; which is so often prideful & willful] evil and choose to live in darkness [of there own making]. THE WILL
OF CHRIST TO SAVE IS LIMITED BY THE FREE REACTION OF EACH SOUL TO EITHER ACCEPT OR REJECT. That was the message Simeon meant to say” END of quotes
IF SOMEONE WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO REMIND ME OF THE LAST “WEEKLY Lesson on TRENT” sent; I’ll get out the next one, and then next week begin again the personal lessons of “Building Blocks of our Catholic Faith” course.
God Bless you all.
You continue in my daily thoughts and prayers,
