- Cars are the solution!?! Mr. Meade doesn't know LA very well, does he.
He only accuses buses of being polluters, as if automobiles don't. Bus stations, to him, attract to many "undesirables", but how else do these people get about, by consistently paying cab fare. His only mention of light rail, is a random "near accident" story.
IMO this article makes no argument for cars whatsoever.
He, almost mockingly, refers to New York as "the quintessential European city". Well Mr. Meade, flattery will get you nowhere. Ironically San Gimignano, with it's many towers, is sometimes called the Medieval Manhattan.
On the other hand, his dream city would probably be Brasilia. A sprawling, car-centric, white washed, Le Corbusier style housing project on steroids.
