- "BedZED, the Beddington Zero Energy Development, is an
environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient mix of housing and work space
in Beddington, Sutton, (South London)...
"BedZED will only use energy from renewable sources generated on site.
It is the first large-scale 'carbon neutral' community - ie the first
not to add to the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. BedZED
shows how housing can be built without degrading the environment."
Saw this on TV last night and I thought it might be interesting to
others. The 50 / 120 dwellings / workplaces per hectare is about
one-half / two-thirds density proposed in "Carfree Cities."
