Strike Shuts Down Most of Londons Subway
- What would happen here, in a "carfree" London?
"LONDON, Sept. 3 London's subway network virtually shut down at the
height of the rush hour this evening when 2,300 maintenance workers
walked off their jobs in what they said would be a three-day strike
over pensions and security."

They never go on strike. Hell, there are even five or six brands of
snow & ice tires made for commuter bicyclists in high latitudes.

Then again, a carfree London might save enough money on road
maintenance, and have such enhanced civility and regard for its own
health, that it would PAY ITS ESSENTIAL WORKERS WHAT THEY'RE WORTH!
