      Great grandfather roamed six miles from home when he was eight.
      Grandfather roamed one mile when he was eight. Mum walked to the
      swimming pool and back when she was eight, half a mile. Son is now
      only allowed to walk 300 yards to the end of the block.

      There's a nice article about this in a back issue of Carfree Times I
      believe.
