      EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MEMORANDUM 20-00

      1. President's New E-mail Address. Colonel Patrick J. Cunningham,
      executive director of Buffalo Naval Park and president of HNSA has a new
      address: navalpark@....

      2. Ship Model Available. The Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum plans to
      deaccession their 36 foot model of USS Nevada. It was made for the movie
      "Tora, Tora, Tora." It is owned by Paramount Pictures. The studio will
      transfer the loan to any qualified museum. Contact curator Jerry Roberts at
      jroberts@... or (212) 245-2533 for further information.

      3. Museum Assessment Program: Once is not Enough. See the announcement in
      my Memorandum 19-00. Now you can come back again. Museums previously awarded
      IMLS funding for MAP may be eligible for a second grant for the same
      assessment. Museums with awards from 1994 or earlier may apply for this
      program beginning with the Nov. 1, 2000 and March 15, 2001, IMLS/MAP grant
      application deadlines. Applicants will be required to report changes in
      operations that were made based on their earlier assessment. For more

      4. Positions Available. The Home Port Alliance for the USS New Jersey is
      seeking appointments for full-time employees to support the establishment and
      operation of the USS New Jersey Memorial on the Camden City waterfront. The
      following six positions will be filled immediately. Others will be announced
      in the months ahead. The deadline is short, September 11, for the positions

      Director of Curatorial Affairs This position has primary responsibility for
      the collection, cataloging, storage and appropriate display of all artifacts
      and ship-related information, as well as supervisory responsibility for the
      management of the information and exhibits displayed aboard ship and
      throughout the pierside museum. It requires extensive experience in
      Navy-related collections and display, appropriate education, and experience
      in working with other historical and curatorial organizations within the
      field.

      Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security Affairs This position
      monitors, coordinates and controls all environmental, health, safety and
      security issues affecting the memorial's establishment and operation. The
      position requires significant experience in hazardous material
      identification, mitigation, and disposal. The position further requires
      experience in shipboard safety and security matters, the development of
      operating budgets, and management of associated cost accounting.
      Assistant to the Executive Director and Human Resources Coordinator This
      position provides for supervisory responsibility to the administrative
      offices and support service functions, as well as overall support to the
      executive director and management staff. The position requires significant
      experience in office management, as well as full understanding of human
      resource requirements and responsibilities, medical benefit plans, and
      payroll accounting. The position requires significant computer literacy, the
      ability to coordinate multiple programs, and the ongoing establishment of
      requirements for office and support staff.

      Senior Shipbuilder (Boatswain) This position is responsible for management
      and oversight of hull and deck operations. Provides direction for tasks
      related to ship's mooring and access ladders, coordinates topside and
      below-decks interface with contractors, and establishes a program for
      volunteer work efforts. Coordinates volunteer labor programs and supervises
      maintenance personnel working hull and deck production items. Has sufficient
      experience/background to develop training plans, and to train shipboard
      personnel in production and maintenance duties.

      Shipkeeper (Electrician) This position is responsible for maintenance of
      all electrical systems and equipment. Provides interface and direction for
      all electrical systems and equipment. Provides interface and direction for
      all electrical power distribution and circuit tab-out control procedures
      during the ship's restoration period. Provides review of all produced wiring
      and load center modification to support installation of new equipment and
      systems. Coordinates volunteer labor programs and supervises personnel
      working electrical production items. Has sufficient experience/background to
      develop training plans, and to train personnel in production and maintenance
      duties.

      Shipkeeper (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) This position is
      responsible for maintenance of all HVAC systems and equipment. Provides
      interface and direction for all proposed modifications that effect heating,
      cooling and dehumidification. Reviews proposed new equipment and systems for
      power requirements and shipboard applicability. Coordinates associated
      programs and supervises personnel working HVAC items.
