      FAQS  (FREQUENTLY ARGUED QUESTIONS):

      1.         A number of sources point to Roman Sarmiento and Ana Canarias (of the iconic Tisa house) as having had only two children, two daughters.  One source even went so far as to say that one of the two died without any heirs and that’s why the house went to the only heiress, Catalina Osmeña, only child of the other daughter.

But, apparently, Don Roman and Doña Ana had many children, and four survived to adulthood, and had their own families:  Guillermo, Telesfora (married to Francisco Base Urgello), Manuela (married to Jose Carballo  Osmeña) and Licerio.

Guillermo’s descendants count among them CF’s own members Liliosa Cacafranca and daughter Niña, Fr. Fulton Varga and Col. Cesar Alegarbes  PAF (ret);  Telesfora’s: the prominent Urgello families of Carcar (including Lt. Gen Raul Urgello, ret.) and of Cebu City (including former-Vice Gov. John-John Osmeña).
