      Presentation Overview
      ---------------------------------------------------------

HP StorageWorks Reference Information Manager for Databases,
an ILM solution improves database application manageability,
significantly improving performance for enterprises with accelerating
data growth. RIM for DB enables users to move data based on its
current value to the business between storage tiers and to maintain
open access to archived data across applications, platforms and storage
media. The result: improved enterprise application performance and
      lower total cost of ownership.

IT organizations can apply the ILM approach to their infrastructure
costs dedicating high-end resources to production data while relocating
historical transactions to online archives stored on more cost-effective
servers and storage classes. Application transparency is retained by
providing online, real-time user access to a combined view if production
and archived data through the native application and reporting interface.
Online archiving is an indispensable key to managing the application data
lifecycle while ensuring regulatory compliance. By reducing the size of
the production database, RIM for DB can boost application performance by
as much as 70 percent, improving application stability, and reducing
application environment costs by millions of dollars annually. RIM for DB
supports IT consolidation by requiring no user training as users use
existing source applications' interfaces, forms, and reports to access
production and archive data through one point of entry.
