2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
U.S. Capitol Building, Capitol Visitors Center, Room HVC-215
An educational briefing on
The Economic Benefits of Feed-In Tariffs for Renewable Energy
Growing the clean energy economy through FITs
Please join us for an educational briefing on how Feed-In Tariffs can accelerate the deployment of renewable energy pushing the U.S. to a true clean energy economy. Find out why FITs can ignite the wholesale distributed generation market segment in communities across the U.S. providing more jobs and tax benefits than any other policy mechanism available. Finally, learn about Representative Jay Inslee’s National FIT bill, which is being introduced Monday. Copies of the bill will be available at the briefing.
Not sure what a FIT is? Learn the details at the briefing. A Feed-in Tariff or FIT is a fixed price, long-term contract based on the type of energy (solar, wind, biomass, etc.) that utilities pay to electricity generators for producing renewable energy. FIT programs are implemented at local, state, and national levels to spur the deployment of renewable energy projects. Empirical results are indisputable, as the vast majority of renewable energy deployed in the world has been driven by FITs, including almost 90% of the solar capacity deployed in 2009.
Panelists include the following experts in bringing Feed-In Tariffs to the U.S.:
Craig Lewis, Executive Director, FIT Coalition
Randy Hayes, US Director, World Future Council
Wilson Rickerson, CEO, Meister Consultants Group
Coffee & Dessert served.
