A car that gets 100 mpg and can help save the world?
      Here's Acterra's press release:

Palo Alto, CA - April 27, 2006 - Join Acterra on Tuesday May 9th,
from 7-9 pm for an environmental forum and learn how plug-in hybrid
electric vehicles (PHEVs) not only offer 100+ mpg, but also help
reduce global warming, create jobs, and improve national
security. Acterra will even have a PHEV on-site for you to
test-drive! Held at Acterra's offices at the Peninsula Conservation
Center, 3921 Bayshore Rd., Palo Alto, the event will feature Felix
Kramer, founder of the CalCars Initiative that both sells plug-in
conversion kits and advocates for the commercial production of
PHEVs. Tickets are $5 for Acterra members, $10 for non-members.

The secret to CalCars' plug-in technology is that it allows the car
to be charged overnight and driven for long stretches on battery
power, so gasoline is used only to cover longer distances than the
typical American commute. "If you cover people's daily commute, they
need to go to the gas station only once a month," said Mr.
Kramer. The forum will explore why both neoconservatives and
environmentalists are equally excited about PHEV technology and how
choosing a plug-in hybrid vehicle is the best option from both a
sustainability and economic point of view. For more information,
      visit <http://www.carcars.org>.

Acterra: Action for a Sustainable Earth offers monthly environmental
forums on a wide array of topics to educate the public about issues
that impact their lives and the world we all live in. Acterra also
offers hands-on opportunities to work on restoration of natural
habitats at the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve and at its Native Plant
Nursery. Other Acterra programs include the Be the Change
environmental leadership program, the Environmental Library &
Resource Center, and the Sustainable Energy program. The mission of
Acterra is to create local solutions that foster a healthy natural
environment. For more information, visit <http://www.acterra.org>
