I try to read the posts
here as often as I can and
      I understand how everyone
      feels about losing Cajon.
After all our kids grew up
      there, they all worked in
      the photo booths on the
      west side (first for Marty
      and then for Gary), I
      worked the pit booth for
      12 years, Bruce served for
      years as a dirtector for
the ECSCRA, he was on the
      fire crew and also the
      starter for 2 years. We
      left behint track records
      and 2 championships and
      tons of memories! We
      moved on only because our
      son moved up to San
      Bernadino and started
      racing at OSS. It wasn't
easy at first, but we now
      have lots of great friends
who love racing as much as
we do. Now we call OSS
      home and are grateful
      there still is an OSS.
      Tracks are closing all
      over California and now
      even Madera Speedway is
      treatened with closing by
      city land improvement and
      a shopping center! What
I'm trying to say is if
      you love racing then you
      should support the small
      tracks that still exsist
      because as for OSS, the
      only thing that will close
      it is lack of fan
      support. The new promotor
      is working very hard to
      improve things and plans
to put lots of money into
the track in the next few
      months. He is even going
to run a winter series for
      Pony Stocks, Sport
      Compacts, Legends and
      maybe a couple of other
      divisions. The infield
      will be paved, Extreme
      Figure 8's will run next
      year and there are even
      plans for a lap tower!!!

So please try and make the
      trip up to OSS and
      help support the "Last"
      small paved oval track in
      SoCal! You can cheer on
      some of the old Cajon
      regulars who are leading
      in the 2006 championship
      points standings.

      I might add that October
      28th is the last regular
race and it will be a big
one. It will be the Grand
      Nationals for the Super
      Late Models, the Late
      Models and the Pony
      Stocks. With lots of fan
      and racers support this
      race coud become the
      new "October Classic". I
      know nothing will take the
      place of Mesa Marin, but
OSS is tying very hard to
      keep some of the old
      traditions in SoCal alive!

      I'll try to keep you
      informed on what is going
on at OSS as things are
      finalized.

      Your old Cajon friend,
      Mary Secord

BTW, you can see photos of
      all the former Cajon cars
that run at OSS on my
      website. The link to my

          and being able to help
          perserve the memories
          makes it even sweeter.
          Besides, now that I have
          so many former Cajon
          people to take photos of
          it makes things even more
          enjoyable for me :o)

          I won't be there this
          Saturday. Eddie has his
          last pro-4 series race up
          at Madera and I'm their
          photographer so Bruce and
          I will be there instead.
          We will have cars coming
          from Utah, Idaho,
          Washington and Oregon as
          well as our California pro-
          4s. Should be a great
          show plus the SRL Shootout
          cars will be there too.

Hope to see you on the
          14th to cheer on Eric
          Ferguson for the Late
          Model championship!!

There is also Barona Speedway, which is right in our back yard,
though dirt, still a ton of fun. There are a lot of the Cajon folk
there, and it helps!! Also good ticket prices, fan friendly, and
really trying to accomodate all who come.

On another note, Racers Against Drugs needs ALL you guys and gals,
Orange Show, Irwindale AND Barona, to help us with all the upcoming
events for Red Ribbon Month. There are a lot of you who are at
Orange Show now who still live in San Diego. RAD is struggling,
trying to continue to carry our message to the youth of Southern
California. Please help!! Events are startin October 16, and go
through November 27. Please contact me, either here, or by phone at
            619-249-7763 for more info.

            Thanks!!

                  Gilbert, don't get me started
                  on Minut *lol* He helped
write the rules for this year
                  which outlawed Eddie's car so
                  ofcourse he is the champion!

                  Saturday when he started
                  banging on Eddie, Eddie was
                  having brake problems and
                  didn't want to crash his
                  fatherinlaws car so he let
Minut by. I didn't like it,
but it was the smart thing to
                  do considering they race at
                  Madera this weekend. That
                  isn't Eddie's ride thou. He
drives the #1 Honda pro-4 for
                  Garret Doyle now. Next year
he will be racing with the SRL
                  Shootout division with Mike
                  Mendenhall (sp).

See you on your birthday the
14th. Stop by my photo booth
after the races and I'll give
                  you a picture of "Ronnie
                  Nova's" car as a present :o)

to late this year to do
                      anything, but maybe next
                      year you can work
                      something out with them.
                      I'll talk to Michelle
                      Rogers who is incharge of
                      marketing for NOS when I
see her on the 14th so we
                      can set some ground work.

                      Kids are very important to
                      protect and OSS already
has a group of races who
                      sponsor "Stop Child Abuse"
                      by signing over their
                      checks everyweek to their
                      group. As far as I'm
                      concerned the groups go
                      hand in hand!
