This is my second '89 and as long as I can find them I will always
drive the '89 Deville. Its almost bullet proof except for a few small
One is, and its a problem right now, the heater core.
I have a Chiltons that purports to cover the 1989 Deville, but in many
(most?) cases, I dont think they ever saw a 1989 before they
published the book! I know they never removed a radio!!!
The information on changing the heater core is TOTALY incorrect even
though it says it covers 1986 to 1989. Obviously there was a cahnge
in 1989 that they did not bother to investigate. Both my '89s heater
cores went bad.
If anyone can give me a step by step method to get into and change the
Heater Core, my wife would appreciate it. She is the one with the wet
The other two problems I find with the '89 are that the cruise
controll will go nuts...intermitently...and loose lock or surge and
the right channel of the radio dies leaving only bursts of static,
never to return. Both my '89s had these three problems.
Also, while I was mucking around under the dash I found a Goodwrench
Keykless Entry module with most of the wires not even connected and I
dont have the remote to match it. Is this something I can salvage???
