Spring has come and rooms 11, 13, 19 and 21 are moving quickly to the finish of the school year.  We would be very grateful if you would CAREFULLY review all the information and put these dates in your family calendar:

      1.      5th Grade Opera, Friday, April 24th PM and 7:00 PM– this year ALL 5th graders will participate in a performance of Don Quijote based on the novel by Cervantes and adapted by the students!  Classroom rehearsals began Fridays in January with SF Opera fellow John Biscoff.  Any and all help would be most gratefully appreciated!  If you know your student will be missing school during that time, we would be grateful to know this in advance.  Tickets will be $5 per person to support the 5th grade Trip.  This would be a good opportunity to sell concessions as a fundraiser.

      2.     TESTING:  State testing with take place 4/27-5/15.  Test preparation is taking place in class.  Please make sure your child gets lots of sleep and a good breakfast.  We are looking for volunteers to bring in healthy snack for each class!

      3.     5th GRADE TRIP –Important dates:

      ·       All forms and payments are PAST DUE!

      ·       We have raised approximately 80% of the money, but need EVERYONE to pay what they can as soon as possible!!!!  Even $50-100 makes a BIG DIFFERENCE!

      ·       Chaperones will be announced by the end of March

      ·       Trip departure – 8:30 AM 5/26 - NOTE THIS IS BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS

      ·       Trip return – 3:00 PM 5/29

      4.    GRADUATION REHEARSALS:  We will begin rehearsals in late May; please let us know if your child will not be attending 6/8.  We understand people may wish to take their children out early the day of the graduation to get all dressed upJ but we will be rehearsing in the morning and would appreciate no “withdrawls” earlier than lunch time!

      5.     GRADUATION:  June 8, 2009.  Ceremony at 6:00 PM (student should arrive at 5:30!)  Dinner and dancing to follow at Buena Vista and hosted by 4th grade families.   Each child will have limited tickets to the ceremony and to the dinner.  We will need a planning committee of 4th and 4th families.  Graduation Meeting: 4/28.

      6.     FINAL DAY OF SCHOOL – 6/9 – yearbooks, picnic, packing up the classroom, final report cards, and very teary farewells!

Thank you for your ongoing support during the school year!

      Klaus, Laura, Olivia and Ymilul
